My Health Record system updates and improvements
Published 12 April 2016
The latest release of changes was the largest My Health Record system release to date. It involved introducing a number of new and improved functions into the system including making it easier for individuals to set up their My Health Record to store key information such as emergency contacts and allergies, and to set access controls.
The key change of note for healthcare providers is the ability to access advance care planning documents. From April 2016, the My Health Record system provides individuals with the ability to upload a scanned version of an advance care planning document prepared by the individual or their representative. This will assist patients to have their preferences known and acted upon at the time when crucial decisions need to be made about their healthcare, and allows these documents to be viewed by treating healthcare providers. Please note, this is a facility for individuals, not healthcare providers to upload advance care plans.
